MAC Computers and MS Access K201 Assignments

I did some testing yesterday on my MACbook Pro running MacOS 10.13 and was able to get this set up to store and use the files on your local drive with IUanyWare.    Please use the attached document and Video on Youtube to ensure that you have this set up correctly!
This should allow you to download the SAM projects and other files to your computer and then use them in IUanyWare.   Then once completed upload them to Canvas assignments or to the SAM projects from your local drive!
A couple of key notes.    First, you will need to copy your files from the Downloads folder to your documents folder.   It does not appear that the security settings allow access to Downloads.    You might want to create a K201 folder in documents to put everything in (but that is not required).   Once the files are in the Documents folder, you will be able to access them and save them back to that location.    When you go back into Canvas or SAM to upload your finished work, you can upload the files directly from the Documents folder.
Also, once you set up the Citrix Workspace application, YOU CAN NOT USE THE BROWSER to access IUanyWare anymore.   You must open the Citrix Workspace application to use IUanyWare or you will go back to not having local access to your files.
Please let me know if you still need help!

MAC Computers and K201 Student Success

As we start the MS Access part of the class you will need to decide how to run MS Access for WINDOWS on your MAC.  The MAC MS Office Suite does NOT include the Access database application.  MAC computers do NOT have Access available in the MS Office Suite UNLESS you choose to run Windows on your MAC.

There is a document in Canvas, Files, called MAC K201 Student Tips.pdf that gives the best options. We have recently learned that if you run MS Access for Windows from the IUanyWare site, you can SAVE files to your Local Drive. That would likely be your fastest solution. If you choose from IUanyWare the Apps solution and save Local it works pretty well.  Instructions HowToSetupIUanyWareOnMAC
If you have a NEW MacBook you may NOT be able to use the "Local Drive".  We are still testing this.

If you are a business major, it maybe worth the time and energy investment to do option 3 and partition your MAC hard drive so you can install Windows, and then the MS Office for Windows suite. It would then work like in the classroom.

To run IUanyWare please see the steps in the MAC K201 Student Tips.pdf file in Canvas, Files.

To Save Local on your MAC you would follow instructions below AFTER you setup Citrix Receiver and are ready. For help please call 274-HELP (they are FREE technical support help to IUPUI Students).

Take care,
Mrs. Nemeth

To Save Local on your MAC visit ... https://kb.iu.edu/d/bbcl
Your personal computer may not automatically share your local file storage with IUanyWare. If you can't access your local directories and files when using IUanyWare applications, check the following settings in your Citrix Workspace app:

macOS: To allow IUanyWare applications to access local files on a macOS personal computer, while an IUanyWare application is open:
From the Client Viewer menu bar, select Preferences..., then File Access, and then Read and write. Click the Devices tab.
If they are not already selected, check the boxes for both When a session starts, connect devices automatically and When a new device is connected while a session is running, connect the device automatically.
The storage location C$ (\\Client) should now be available in your list of "Computer" storage locations.
You may also configure settings for removable media on your local workstation. These settings will remain in place until you change them.

Note:

Local Disk (C: on...) takes you to the Macintosh HD directory. Local Disk (H: on...) takes you directly to the home directory of your user account.

Welcome back to K201 and our Online Learning plan!

Remember you start your assignments from Canvas, Modules BUT then should Submit your Attendance and Participation Assignments in Canvas, Quizzes (left frame) and then click the appropriate Attendance link.  There is a separate link for each MIS Chapter, the MIS  Parcitipation Activities and later for the Excel/Access Module Attendance files.  All of these assignments are due by Midnight on the day listed on the Daily Schedule.

Please choose what works best for for you for the MIS Assignments either
1.  Print and hand write answers, then take pictures and upload or
2.  Download the Assignment document (either .pdf file or from Canvas, Files, Revised Online Learning Content folder the .docx version if you prefer to type in your answers) and save then submit back to the Canvas, Quiz, link.  If you are using a MAC computer be sure you SAVE as a Windows file so I can open and grade. (do NOT submit MAC Pages files - as I will NOT be able to open them).

Most of your Exams will be ONLINE, and Open Resource and you will have 80 minutes (10 minutes EXTRA time vs face to face exams).
